THANK YOU

The semester is coming to a close and I would like to thank everyone that participated and contributed to our Group 1 immersive learning project.  Thank you TQL for partnering with us.  You were a wonderful organization to work with.  I believe in your mission and wish all of you the very best.  Thank you Concannons bakery for graciously providing dessert for the 100+ dinner workshop event held at the First Baptist Church, in Muncie, IN.  Thank you Muncie Star Press for writing and printing an article on our workshop event.  Thank you to my fellow EDAC632 classmates for supporting our group throughout the semester. Thank you to my group associates, Abdul, Ashley and Wafa in completing this project. We started out as underdogs in the class, but we over came any issues that came our way.  I personally feel like the four of us did a great job with our project.  Lastly, a special thanks to my professor, Dr. Bo Chang, for helping me when I was lost on expectations, resources, and writing.  Thank you for taking my e-mails and responding quickly regardless of the time of day. (I do recall you saying you stayed up late so I did not mind sending you e-mails late at night.)

I hope you take the time to look through our blog to learn more about Group 1 and our Big Read immersive project.  If you do not have the time to read the blog then please watch our project presentation.  The presentation will take you through our experiences from beginning to end.  To see the animated version of the presentation you will need to download it. (I highly recommend watching it.)

Workshop Event

Please come join us
at the
First Baptist Church
309 E. Adams Street
Muncie, IN  47305
on October 22nd, 2015 at 6:45pm

Our partnering organization, Teamwork for Quality of Living, will be having dinner before our workshop presentation.  They generally begin eating at 6:00pm.  Please be respectful of their dinner and do not arrive early.

Our group will be discussing Fahrenheit 451 with those at the workshop.  We are looking forward to stimulating conversation on censorship.  Could it be society is utilizing electronic technology to perform censorship and theoretically burning books?  Some may think not; others think we are.  Please come share you opinion.  Site examples if possible.

We are looking forward to meeting each of you.

Organization Partner

Hello Everyone,

We are so excited to be partnering with TEAMwork on our BIG READ workshop.  I spoke with TEAMwork's spoke person today and she is excited to have our group come in, but more importantly she is excited to be affiliated with the BIG READ program.  They had every intention of attending the Kick-Off and they missed it due to prior engagement.

We will be posting more information as we move forward.

I thought I'd share an interesting photo that can be found on the Muncie Community Schools website.  To me it reaffirms students no longer see any value of the physical book.

Are you looking to read Fahrenheit 451 and you prefer to not do it online?  Please let us know and we'll do our best to get a book to you.  Each group in EDAC 632 has been granted ten copies of the book.
ELECTRONIC BOOK BURNING?

A comparison between Ray Bradbury's, Fahrenheit 451, and reading books online.

Everyone in our Group felt it was very important to find our theme before reaching out to a community partner.  We have a lot to accomplish in the next 2 days.
